This strategy serves to combat current demographic changes and relaunch development and services in the parts of the country feeling the effects of a dwindling, ageing population, where the lack of development opportunities can only lead to increased hardships for the people who live there.
Based on their demographic, economic and social parameters, a few areas in the region have been mapped that could, at the end of the public input period conducted by the Region in cooperation with the Inland Area National Committee,
Lower Ferrara is one of the 4 candidates for the SNAI trial project (Italy’s National Strategy for ‘Inner Areas’).
For each region selected, the following elements were identified:
• project areas, municipalities in which SNAI interventions are concentrated;
• strategy areas, municipalities in which those interventions could have indirect impact and/or that could be the site of infrastructure projects with direct impact on the aforementioned project areas.
The interventions implemented in the SNAI candidate areas will be financed with national funds and by the Region through regional programmes financed by European funds (RDP, ERDF Regional Operational Programmes, ESF Regional Operational Programmes) and implemented upon the signing of a Programme Framework Agreement (PFA).
The S.I.PRO. Local Development Agency and the Delta 2000 local action group provide Technical Assistance in the Lower Ferrara Inner Area.
